Posture Assessment

Assessment and retraining for people whose musculoskeletal pain comes from sustained posture rather than a single injury.

Posture correction & retraining

Built on National Posture Institute guidelines

A specialised programme and assessment for postural correction and retraining, focused on those who develop a musculoskeletal issue because of sustained poor posture.

The pattern is familiar: nothing happened, no incident, no fall — and yet the neck aches every afternoon and the low back tightens by Friday. That is a loading problem, and it responds to assessment and retraining rather than to another set of stretches.

  • Assessment of habitual positions and working set-up
  • Movement screening with biofeedback where useful
  • Retraining for deep neck flexors, scapular control and thoracic mobility
  • Programme delivered and tracked through Teambuildr, with reassessment at intervals

What we target

Position is half of it. Capacity is the rest.

Assess

How you actually sit, stand, drive and lift — not how you sit when someone is watching. Plus a screen of the joints being asked to absorb it.

Retrain

Deep neck flexor endurance, lower and middle trapezius, serratus anterior, thoracic extension and rotation, and breathing mechanics.

Re-test

Reassessment at intervals so the plan progresses on measured change rather than on the calendar.

For workplaces

We will come to your team

Our corporate workshops are popular with employees who spend most of the day at a desk. They are not lectures — they are engaging, productive sessions with VALD assessments included for every participant.

Each person leaves with a prehab and rehab programme customised to their need and level of fitness, with exercise video accessible on their phone. Available on site or delivered remotely.

Common questions

Posture assessment at Apti

If your pain tracks with hours rather than with an incident, this is the right starting point.

A specialised programme and assessment for postural correction and retraining, designed on the guidelines of the National Posture Institute. It is aimed at people who develop musculoskeletal problems because of sustained poor posture rather than because of a single injury.

Desk workers with recurring neck, shoulder or low back pain; people in physically demanding roles who load asymmetrically; students; drivers; and anyone whose symptoms track with hours held in one position rather than with a specific incident.

Not on its own. Any position held long enough becomes uncomfortable, and there is no single perfect posture. What matters is sustained loading combined with insufficient capacity in the muscles that should share it — which is why the programme addresses both position and strength rather than nagging you to sit up straight.

Assessment of your working set-up and habitual positions, movement screening, biofeedback where useful, and then a retraining programme targeting deep neck flexor endurance, scapular control, thoracic mobility and breathing mechanics — delivered and tracked through the Teambuildr app.

Objectively, and re-tested. You are reassessed at intervals so the programme changes when the evidence changes, rather than running unchanged for six weeks.
