Objective assessment

The latest technology in physiotherapy

We measure movement instead of estimating it. Apti uses VALD assessment technology — the same systems used by professional sports teams and university research labs — so your progress is tracked in numbers, not impressions.

Movement

VALD HumanTrak

3D markerless movement analysis

HumanTrak records how you actually move. Using a 3D camera and motion-capture software, it measures joint angles, range of motion and left-to-right symmetry through squats, lunges, reaching and overhead patterns — no markers, no sensors, no guesswork.

  • Objective range-of-motion and joint-angle measurement
  • Left-versus-right movement symmetry
  • Screening for movement patterns linked to injury risk
  • Repeatable testing that shows change over time
Force

VALD ForceDecks

Dual force plate testing

ForceDecks are twin force plates that measure the force each leg produces, thousands of times per second. They reveal the asymmetries you cannot see or feel — the ones that quietly hold back a return to sport or invite the same injury back.

  • Leg-to-leg strength and loading asymmetry
  • Jump, landing and balance performance metrics
  • Return-to-sport testing against objective criteria
  • Baseline and re-test data to guide progression

Harbhajan Singh, Indian Cricketer
I would like to thank you for your great work with me during my important playing days for the Indian cricket team. People often talk about our performances on the field but no one really knows what goes on behind the scenes. I remember while I was preparing for the test match series in Sri Lanka 2015/16 I badly injured my left shoulder — the non-bowling arm, which is more important than the right shoulder for bowling. It was so much in pain that I couldn’t lift my arm up. I didn’t have much time as the tour was to start in ten days, so I was actually deciding to pull my name from the team.

Jeev Milkha Singh, Professional Golfer
At the outset, let me thank you for looking after me and helping me get back to fitness from the debilitating and career-threatening shoulder injury. I have no doubt that your knowledge and understanding of the human body — especially what we athletes have to go through — played a big role in getting me back on the golf course. I wish you all the best for the future and will be happy to recommend any injured sportsperson to seek your consultancy.

Chris Green, Australian Cricket Player
I had the pleasure of being treated by Ravi during the recent GT20 in Canada in 2019 as part of the Toronto Nationals Cricket Team. His professionalism and care for all the players was really impressive to witness. For me personally he helped me deal with lower body stiffness, in particular through my hips and lower back, which ensured I was able to compete on the field to the best of my ability. I can recommend Ravi to any athlete who requires physio treatment in order to get back on, or remain on, the field doing what they love.

Jeremy Gordon, Canadian Cricketer & Fast Bowler
I met Ravi during the Global T20 league in Canada where he was the appointed physiotherapist for my team, the Toronto Nationals. Ravi is very knowledgeable and a proven professional. He is accommodating and extremely patient with the services and support he provides. Ravi treated and advised me regularly during my time as a fast bowler at the Global T20 Tournament — I had a few niggles and was struggling with lower back and shoulder pain.

Paolo Vaiano, Canadian Soccer Player, League1 Ontario
Soccer has been part of my life since I was six. Fast forward to today and I’m playing for a semi-professional club in League1 Ontario. Like any athlete I’ve faced my share of challenges, particularly hamstring and calf issues — and the work at Apti is what keeps me on the pitch.

★★★★★

“I’m very clumsy when it comes to injuries. I’ve been to so many different places but hands down no one can beat Ravi. His diagnosis and fix is right on spot. You won’t need to go any other place once you visit him. No wonder Ravi has so many credentials under his belt. My only gripe is as he is so busy you can’t get the appointment right away — that’s the negative when someone is so good at what they do. They also have a sports rehab. Ps most of my injuries are sports related.”

“Both my parents have visited Ravi and they find his services excellent! Earlier this year, my mom pulled a back muscle that was going to cancel her vacation plans. However, just with a couple of sessions with Ravi she was able to continue her vacation plans without an issue. I would recommend Ravi to anyone looking for a physiotherapist who knows what they are doing!”

Common questions

Answers, before you ask

Whether you come to us for a single treatment or a longer course of care, we make certain our patients play an active part in their own recovery — so that they remain comfortable long after treatment ends.

No. Physiotherapists in Ontario are primary-care practitioners, so you can book directly with Apti without a referral. Some extended health insurance plans do require a referral for reimbursement — it’s worth a quick call to your provider before your first visit.

Most extended health benefit plans cover physiotherapy and registered massage therapy delivered by a registered practitioner. Our Prehab Gym Membership is also typically covered, because those sessions are delivered by a registered physiotherapist. Bring your plan details to your first appointment and we’ll help you understand your coverage.

Your initial assessment is a full hour. We take a detailed history, screen your movement, run biofeedback and workload analysis where relevant, and identify the risk factors driving your symptoms. You leave with a diagnosis, a plan, and usually your first set of corrective work — not just a list of exercises on paper.

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in — shorts or leggings and a t-shirt work well. If your issue is running or sport related, bring the footwear you train in. Bring your insurance details and any relevant imaging or specialist reports.

Our approach is source-driven rather than symptomatic. We use comprehensive data collection and visual biofeedback analysis to take the guesswork out of the equation, then work through four stages — find the source, relieve the symptom, build resilience, fuel performance. When you work on the source, the symptoms disappear.

No. Performance isn’t confined to sport — it’s accomplishing a task to the best of your capability. We treat desk workers with postural pain, people in physically demanding jobs, recreational athletes, post-natal clients, seniors and professional athletes with the same source-driven method.
